WUIS DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT-

WUIS-WIPA, the public radio station at
the University of Illinois at Springfield, is seeking qualified
candidates for the position of Development Director. This is a key
fundraising position for the radio station, which serves central and
west-central Illinois. WUIS is committed to serving the region with
in-depth news, smart programming and a variety of music. It is
affiliated with the Center for State Policy and Leadership at UIS.
The development director will lead an
ambitious effort in both on and off-air fundraising. The successful
candidate is responsible for all membership solicitation and
stewardship, promotions & special events. This includes the
coordination of two membership drives per year.
Qualifications required for the job
include a bachelor’s degree, as well as an appreciation for and
understanding of public radio and its mission. Also required are two
years of fundraising, sales, event planning, broadcasting,
non-profit or other commensurate experience, demonstrated writing
and communication skills and the ability to work flexible schedule
with some nights and weekends involved. Must handle confidential
materials with discretion.
Preferred qualifications include
experience in computer software operations including Microsoft Word
& Excel. Experience with computer databases & experience in working
with or coordinating volunteers is also preferred. Salary is
commensurate with experience.
