The Association for Women in Communications Springfield, Illinois Chapter was founded in 1977 as a professional organization of women and men in the communications fields, located in Central Illinois. Membership is open to all women and men who are interested in communications.
Our members work in a wide variety of communications-related fields: print, web and broadcast journalism, advertising, public relations, corporate and government communications, graphic design, photography, marketing, social media and other disciplines. AWC Springfield members include students, young executives, seasoned professionals, entrepreneurs and retirees.
Our chapter seeks to empower women in in all stages of their careers in communications disciplines to reach their full potential. AWC is committed to work for pay equity for women in the communications workplace and for First Amendment rights and responsibilities.
AWC Springfield encourages communicators to share their successes and to promote professional growth and networking. Through our educational programs, member support network and scholarships, AWC Springfield nurtures and celebrates leaders.
Our chapter has won many awards for excellence, as have its individual members. For nearly 40 years, we have been helping communicators in Central Illinois be their very best.
